Vení Que Te Cuento (Come, Sit, and I’ll Tell You)
It’s been 20 years since the deaths of Tita Merello and Ada Falcón so we decided to pay tribute to them by writing new music.
-> 9 singers put together teams to write songs
-> 9 stories were turned into lyrics and music
Struggle, love, discrimination, and friendship are a few of the key words.
So much has changed in the last 20 years in terms of tango, women, and society. COME, SIT, AND I’LL TELL YOU about it.
LUNÁTICA /LUNATIC
Oh yes, I’ve been called a lunatic! Because I dare, because I’m not afraid, because I’m sexual and vulnerable and I find refuge in the night and in milongas.
TERRAZAS / Rooftop Terraces
Now we can play music and dance until there’s no wine left…without being afraid to be alone, with only the moon as a companion.
CRISTAL PERFECTO / A Perfect Crystal
I could have chosen rock, but tango is the music that represents all of the nostalgic, passionate magic of where I’m from. I’m rebellious and original and in tango I allowed myself to find my own way of singing, walking, being happy, and embracing my sadness.
ESCUADRÓN DE GLITTER /The Glitter Squadron
On planet revolution there are things which were unimaginable in Tita and Ada’s time. Shall we dance? Do you want to lead or should I? Or should we both?! The time has come to get rid of labels and embrace each other with love and freedom.
LA ERA DE LA SOLEDAD / The Era of Solitude
Ah, love. You’d think it would have changed over time because now we meet each other online, but…has anything actually changed?
LA AGUANTADORA / Patient As A Rock
This vals speaks for me and for us women: it contains all of the women of my life, the one I am, and the one I was. Embracing these women is an act of liberation; because of them we can write today. And so the title of the song takes on a new meaning: together we all support each other.
EMPODERADA / Empowered
I wanted to play with the two characters, Tita and Ada: one chaste and distant, the other a rowdy woman who stood up. And today we women don’t have to choose; we can be anything.
YA NO ME QUIERO CALLAR / I’m Done Keeping Quiet
I believe you. Because they keep trying to take advantage of us, but now we know, we’re aware, and when it comes to me…they won’t succeed.
LO QUE DE ELLAS SIGUE EN NOSOTRAS / What They Did Lives On In Us
Can you imagine a cross-temporal meeting with those women who came before us, with these role models who opened up a path in tango? This song wanders around that image, like a game, like an encounter.
